Woke at 7:30 a.m. and headed to Jeannie's Breakfast to fuel up for our assault of Cadillac Mountain (elevation 1532 feet). Jordan consumed the “Maine Breakfast,” which included 3 eggs, toast and jam, home fries, ham, baked beans, and a buttermilk pancake. (He ate the entire thing.) AM had some yummy blueberry pancakes.
We biked into Acadia (uphill) and began our climb up Cadillac Mountain. After yawning from boredom from the lack of strain, we arrived at the summit in about 4 minutes (give or take 35 minutes or so), without stopping once along the way. We saw several people get off their bikes to walk, but not us! At the top, we were rewarded with gusty winds but very pretty views. The trip back down was full of hairpin turns that we rounded at death-defying speeds.
We continued biking around some of the carriage trails, stopping at Jordan Pond for some delicious Harbor Bars (a chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwich that's been dipped in chocolate). We saw Eagle Lake and then headed back to town to drop off our bicycles at the bike shop so they could be shipped back to Brooklyn.
We headed back to the hotel for a two hour nap -- our first of the trip. Then it was time for souvenir shopping. Unfortunately, Jordan could not buy his own blueberry ale without proper ID, so AM had to sneakily buy it for him. About 10 jars of blueberry jam later, we treated ourself to a true lobster dinner at Nesta's Restaurant downtown. We each had blueberry ale, clam chowdah, salad, rolls, french fries, lobstah, and homemade blueberry pie. The amount of food was a little ridiculous, actually. We managed to make it back to the hotel before we passed out from our food comas.
